Family Life of the Rhode Island Colonist
Life was tough for the first arriving Rhode Islanders. They chopped their own wood, built their own houses, and made their own clothing and linen fabrics. Most of the men spent their days farming for crops, fishing for food, trading for money, or Building homes and public used areas. The day of a women wasn't any walk in the park either. The women spent their time cooking, cleaning, taking care of the children, and gathering food and water while the men were away.
